Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced the plan at a meeting attended by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) Chairman Rear Admiral (Retd) Syed Moazzam Ilyas and members of the PQA Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed facility, to be developed within the Port Qasim industrial corridor, will provide direct access to the port and is intended to reduce inland logistics requirements for imported and exported vehicles. The project is being planned as Pakistan\u2019s first dedicated Import-Refurbishment-Export (AIRE) framework for the automotive sector. It is designed to bring vehicle import, refurbishment, display and export activities into an integrated port-based ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/pak-china-explore-maritime-project-at-port-qasim.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pak, China explore \u2018Steel-to-Green Sea\u2019 maritime project at Port Qasim<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first phase will comprise 264 operational units across five specialised segments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>30 commercial units<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>84 refurbishment workshops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>60 car display units<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20 machinery yards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>70 auto spare-parts units<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to project estimates, the AIRE Park could generate an annual net foreign exchange surplus of around USD 200 million, based on projected exports of approximately USD 500 million. The facility is also expected to support automotive businesses by bringing refurbishment workshops, machinery yards, vehicle displays, commercial facilities and spare-parts suppliers together at a single location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed zone\u2019s location along the Arabian Sea shipping corridor could also facilitate vehicle trade between South Asia, the Gulf and East Africa.
