The recently launched Apna Ghar scheme by the Government of Punjab has attracted a lot of attention by the low income groups of the province. Apna Ghar is an extension of Ashiana Housing Project, which targets the homeless and poor families of Punjab. The Government of Punjab has asked for the applications to be submitted latest by December 22, 2014.<\/p>\n

As claimed by the authorities, Ashiana Housing is so far the biggest residential project targeting the low income strata of the people living in Punjab. A couple of days ago, the PM of Pakistan approved the development of a company for the construction of low-cost Ashiana homes<\/a>. In the first phase, some of these flats will be built in Ashiana Iqbal, Barki Road Lahore. The project features schools, parks, wide roads, a health club, commercial area, masjid and a community centre.<\/p>\n

Who can apply for Apna Ghar?<\/strong><\/p>\n

To apply for Apna Ghar, the applicant has to meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Has an NIC of Punjab
\n\u2022 Has a combined monthly family income of less than PKR 50,000
\n\u2022 Does not own a plot or house
\n\u2022 Is younger than 55 years
\n\u2022 Has never been allotted a house or plot by the Government of Punjab<\/p>\n

Price and payment plan of Apna Ghar<\/strong><\/p>\n

The starting price of these flats is PKR 1,199,000, which can be submitted in an instalment plan that spans 10 years. The details are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Lucky Draw for Apna Ghar alottees<\/strong><\/p>\n

After receiving applications against the non-refundable processing fee, successful applicants will be chosen through a lucky draw, which, as claimed by the authorities, would be transparent. The date of the lucky draw would be announced through print advertisements.<\/p>\n

Down payment amount for Apna Ghar<\/strong><\/p>\n

The successful applicants will then be required to submit an amount ranging between PKR 239,800 and PKR 319,800 as down payment. There would be a deadline for submitting down payment, the applicants, therefore, should arrange the down payment amount in case they get lucky enough to claim their apartment in Government of Punjab\u2019s Apna Ghar scheme.<\/p>\n
