Islamabad: The Islamabad Developers Association (IDA) has expressed concerns over the Capital Development Authority (CDA)\u2019s building by-laws, claiming that the authority has failed to amend by-laws for high-rise buildings in the Federal Capital.<\/p>\n
A delegation of the IDA, led by Mr Muhammad Abdul Qadir and Mr Sardar Tanvir, met CDA Chairman Mr Maroof Afzal and told him that development work on various high-rise buildings was stalled because of improper building regulations.<\/p>\n
Mr Afzal told the delegation that the authority updated building by-laws in 2014 but a few amendments were yet to be made.<\/p>\n
The IDA delegation complained that the floor-area ratio, as set by the CDA, to feature parking spaces for high-rise buildings was unrealistic. Mr Abdul Qadir said that under existing by-laws, the developers were required to develop six to seven underground floors to provide for a parking space of 2,600 square yards in each high-rise building.<\/p>\n
The IDA delegation also complained that the Planning Wing of the CDA had not been clearing their cases for more than six months now, due to which they were facing financial losses. Mr Tanveer said that the developers were unable to apply for gas and electricity connections without getting no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the CDA. The delegation also expressed its concerns over the lack of proper water and sewerage connections.<\/p>\n
The CDA chairman assured the IDA delegation that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis in order to create investment opportunities in the Federal Capital. He also added that the authority was making efforts to ensure provision of water, gas and electricity to commercial buildings.
