Bahria Town Karachi arranged for an official site tour for Zameen.com\u2019s editorial team on May 29, 2015. My fellow Zameen blogger Zain Nadeem and I were eagerly awaiting this tour, and I think I speak on behalf of both of us when I say it exceeded our expectations.<\/p>\n

On May 29, 2015, we left our hotel room for Bahria Town Icon to meet Assistant Marketing Manager Ms Maryam Khurram \u2013 a very polite young woman keen on making sure that our objective for this tour were achieved. As soon as we entered the under-construction site of Bahria Town Icon \u2013 a 62-storey building set to become the tallest in Pakistan upon completion \u2013 we were stunned by its size and the pace of ongoing construction. Bahria Icon can be seen from anywhere in DHA and Clifton as it stands tall along Sea View Road near the famous Dolmen Mall.<\/p>\n

The pace of work in Bahria Icon is very impressive. Ms Khurram told us that 30 floors out of the total 62 had been completed and Bahria Town planned to complete the building by December this year, which would be a tremendous accomplishment.<\/p>\n

We were given special permission to take pictures of the under-construction building, and here are some of them:<\/p>\n

She also briefed us about the ongoing Bahria projects in Karachi and their current development status. According to her, fast-paced construction work is being carried out at Bahria Town Karachi and it is expected to be fully developed by the end of 2017.<\/p>\n

Once we were done exploring Bahria Icon and seeing the stunning pace of construction work at this massive project, we sat back for the drive to the site of Bahria Town Karachi via Super Highway. After staying on the road for what seemed like a good hour, we could see Bahria Town on the left side of the highway. Ms Khurram accompanied us on the tour, and her friendly and polite presence along with her extensive knowledge about the project turned out to be of great help.<\/p>\n

The barren land along both sides of Super Highway was experiencing a massive activity in the form of one of the finest real estate projects of Pakistan, which was a pleasure to explore. In the wilderness surrounding Super Highway, the sight of Bahria Town Karachi is a very interesting contrast. The low-rise exterior of the main entrance doesn\u2019t give away what is actually going on behind those sombre walls.<\/p>\n

As soon as we reached the main entrance, we were led to GM Admin & Coordination Commander (R) Zulfiqar Ahmed\u2019s office. Meeting Commander Zulfiqar \u2013 a well-built man with an impressive personality and a great sense of humour \u2013 was an experience in and of itself. While we were in his office, he multi-tasked effortlessly, taking care of things and dealing with different people regarding the ongoing project as well as giving us brilliant bursts of attention. Our sincerest thanks to him for his time!<\/p>\n

Shortly afterwards, Bahria Town Marketing Executive Mr Nadeem Akhtar joined us. He is familiar with the entire project, which spans 6,200 acres. We instantly developed a fondness for Mr Akhtar\u2019s fine manners, his obvious dedication to the project, and his breath-taking knowledge of every single corner of the site.<\/p>\n

In Bahria Town Karachi, there are dozens of active sites where construction work is being carried out from dawn to dusk. Be it the theme park, golf club, apartments, residential and commercial plots, villas or Mr Ali Riaz\u2019s farmhouse, speedy construction work can be seen at all of these sites. Mr Akhtar told us that the speed of construction work was so fast that grey structures of houses and floors of under-construction buildings were being completed on a daily basis, while finishing of the constructed units was being carried out at the same time.<\/p>\n

It would perhaps be understandable if a project being developed at this pace and spanning this size was a little less green and less well-maintained, but Bahria Town Karachi isn\u2019t like that at all. The roads leading to the various developments have already been landscaped and have well-maintained greenbelts.<\/p>\n

Moving up and down on the carpeted roads according to the natural topography and seeing the vast area under development has been an experience of a lifetime. If we had visited the project the next day, I am sure we would\u2019ve come across a more developed Bahria Town than the one we visited the day before.<\/p>\n

Mr Akhtar ensured that we visited all the sites well before Friday Prayers. His polite company, sophisticated manners and friendly presence is what made our Bahria Town tour even more memorable. We also had the chance to walk into the dining area of Bahria Town where everyone, including the corporate employees, engineers, admin staff as well as the labourers, have lunch together. The congeniality of the atmosphere was remarkable.<\/p>\n

Visiting Bahria Town has been more than a simple project tour for us. We have made friends there. Mr Akhtar, Commander Zulfiqar and Ms Khurram, thank you for all your time and efforts in making sure that we got to know Bahria Town Karachi as well as a project of this scale truly deserves!<\/p>\n
