Islamabad: The Supreme Court ordered the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Interior to submit responses to a petition filed against the grant of 18 acres of land for the expansion of the American embassy in the federal capital.<\/p>\n
On September 21, a three-judge bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal, issued notices to the functionaries after hearing the petition filed by Watan Party Chairman Barrister Zafarullah Khan.<\/p>\n
The petition, previously moved in 2009 by the Watan Party and restored on July 1, stated that the US embassy be halted from purchasing more land or renting further property in Islamabad as it already had 38 acres of land and additional land was not necessary.<\/p>\n
