Hyderabad: The Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) directed government departments to submit a report on the action taken against land mafia on September 29, following a plea that detailed the mafia\u2019s illegal occupation of state land within and around the Hyderabad division.<\/p>\n
According to a news source, the order was passed by Justice Azhar Hassan Rizvi after Mohammad Hassan and 21 others submitted an application to the court.<\/p>\n
Reportedly, the application accused 19 individuals, including leaders and activists associated with Awami National Party, Sindh National Party, Mutahidda Qaumi Movement, Peoples Labour Bureau, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Balochistan Liberation Front, and a former employee of the Department of Railways, of being a part of the land mafia.<\/p>\n
The application stated that although the top court had placed a ban on the lease of land, the accused, in collusion with policemen and revenue officials, were still involved in its illegal lease. The plea also detailed how any retaliation was answered with violence, harassment, and threats of implication in false cases.<\/p>\n
