Karachi: In a bid to curb the power shortage, the Sindh Land Scrutiny Committee has approved 15,089 acres of state land to facilitate 21 wind and solar energy projects that will produce 1,880 megawatts.<\/p>\n
Reportedly, the committee unanimously approved the availability of land in Thatta, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, and Sukkur for these renewable energy projects on the basis of working papers prepared by the Land Utilisation Department and reports presented by the Expert Committee.<\/p>\n
The electricity these projects generate will be evacuated by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company according to power rates approved by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).<\/p>\n
An additional 12 wind projects requiring 6,622 acres of land will be discussed at the next committee meeting.<\/p>\n
