Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif gave the go-ahead for stern action against all parties, including retired military officials and civilians, involved in the PKR 62 billion Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Valley scam six months ago, sources from within the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) told a news agency.<\/p>\n
Reportedly, this land was supposed to be allotted to the families of martyred army personnel. NAB started its probe after several army officials filed petitions and complaints, which included the allegation that the housing society was to be built on the Punjab government\u2019s land reserved for the Dadhocha Dam near Rawat.<\/p>\n
According to the bureau\u2019s initial investigation, those who bought plots in DHA Valley were surprised when PKR 62 billion was transferred to Bahria Town. The developer, in turn, was unable to develop the scheme in a timely manner.<\/p>\n
Currently, those under NAB\u2019s investigation include Bahria Town owner Malik Riaz, the brother of former army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani, and prominent DHA officials.<\/p>\n
