Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak announced on January 10 the establishment of a housing society in a safe neighborhood for residents of natural disaster-prone areas of Chitral.<\/p>\n
While speaking to a delegation from Chitral, CM Khattak said residents would be given plots in the particular society and all roads and infrastructure damaged due to natural calamities would be rehabilitated on a priority basis. The delegation was led by MPA Fauzia Bibi and officials belonging to departments concerned with the rehabilitation of the earthquake and flood-hit areas of Chitral,<\/p>\n
According to a news source, CM Khattak said the provincial government\u2019s strategy was to only initiate development projects that could be completed in a timely manner and for which the required finances were available. Accordingly, road projects amounting to PKR 60 billion had been approved and no new projects could be initiated until the existing ones were completed.<\/p>\n
He added that work on the roads in Chitral would commence during this financial year under the urban uplift programme and the development of the university in Chitral would be expedited.<\/p>\n
