Karachi: Protests erupted on January 24 against a decision taken by provincial authorities to demolish houses within the premises of the Sindh Assembly in order to build a parking area for lawmakers and visitors.<\/p>\n
According to a news source, residents resisted the decision and demanded the government provide alternative accommodation to those affected, as promised initially.<\/p>\n
The authorities, however, denied claims made by the protestors. Sindh Assembly Secretary Umer Farooq told reporters that multiple notices were issued to residents and a final notice had been sent in December 2015.<\/p>\n
