Islamabad: The construction of 104 family suites for members of parliament is facing a prolonged delay as the site for the main block is occupied by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and 111 Brigade.<\/p>\n
According to a news source, this information was given to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on January 27 by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) during a discussion on the delay in Public Sector Development Programme projects in the federal capital.<\/p>\n
Reportedly, the PC-1 of the PKR 2.9 billion family suites project was approved back in January 2010 by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council for completion by January 2013.<\/p>\n
The CDA provided evidence of forced occupation of the area by NAB and the 111 Brigade in writing to the PAC. Moreover, CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal stated that the contractor was also to be blamed for the delay and that the authority had imposed a PKR 270 million liquidity damage charge on the contracting firm.<\/p>\n
The chairman assured the committee that work on the site would reach completion by the end of the year.<\/p>\n
