Multan: Punjab Cooperatives Secretary Babar Hayat Tarar directed the executive district officer of community development to investigate the alleged irregularities in the Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society (WECHS) case. <\/p>\n
Reportedly, orders were given after Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Malik Iqbal Channar forwarded two petitions to Tarar from residents of WECHS.<\/p>\n
One of the applicants claimed that the tenure of WECHS\u2019s management committee had been illegally extended twice. According to this petitioner, 1,250 acres of land had been purchased for Phase III, but a greater number of files were sold against the land acquired. Furthermore, 5,000 commercial plots were sold in Phase III even though the project map has not even been designed yet. Allegations about the extension of Block E in Phase I without prior approval were also included. <\/p>\n
The other applicant highlighted wrongdoings attributed to WECHS officials and its management committee. He alleged that the committee purchased land at lower rates and transferred them at higher rates while keeping the difference in their own pockets.
