Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has still not acquired a landfill to dump over 800 tonnes of garbage collected from Peshawar city every day, despite having been allotted PKR 174.28 million for this purpose.<\/p>\n
According to a news source, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) Manager Taimur Ahmed Shah said that WSSP chose a site spanning 536 kanals in the Maryamzai area but the Department of Finance did not release funds. This is why the land in question could not be acquired.<\/p>\n
Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud stated that the district administration imposed Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act on the chosen site, so the delay could not be blamed on the administration.<\/p>\n
