Under the system of local governments, not a single person has been detained for unlawful construction of buildings in the previous 12 years. After 2001, thousands of commercial and residential buildings have been constructed in Lahore without map approval and by ignoring the Building By-Laws. It did not just give an ill-face to the city but has also heavily damaged the official treasure.<\/p>\n
Several residential areas had been converted to commercial and industrial zones, which is against the law. Under the section PLG 141 of Local Government Ordinance 2001, Rs15 thousands and 3 years punishment is fixed for illegal construction but not a single person has so far been punished. Not a single case has been filed against any such defaulter and if the Local Government has filed any such case, the defaulters have sorted the case outside court. <\/p>\n
