Ashiana Iqbal, another housing scheme, is announced for the lower middle and middle class. It will comprise of five, seven and ten marla houses and will also have apartments for the residents. Ashiana Iqbal will provide thousands of houses which are built for the sole purpose and that is of facilitating the penurious. The foundation stone of Ashiana Iqbal at Barki Road will be laid on March 23, says Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe CM said this while presiding over a meeting held to discuss the Ashiana Iqbal project. The meeting was attended by several key persons such as Punjab Land Development Company Chairman Sheikh Alauddin and the concerned officers. At this occasion PLDC Chief Executive Officer Momin Agha gave a detailed briefing about the Ashiana Iqbal project.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhile addressing the meeting, the CM said that the Government of Punjab had fulfilled the dream of labourers, poor, orphans, and widows with regards to having their own houses. He further added that several promises for welfare of the poor were made during the last 64 years. However no practical steps had been taken to fulfil those claims. He added that credit for providing shelter to the poor goes to Punjab Government through introduction of Ashiana Housing Scheme.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nShahbaz said that everybody has an equal right over national resources and that is why the best facilities are being provided in the houses of Ashiana Housing Scheme. He said that best land had been selected for Ashiana Iqbal on Burki Road. Giving details of the housing scheme, he said that in addition to other facilities, a bus terminal, medical college, university and technical educational institute would also be established in the area.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Lahore DCO has been directed to immediately start construction work on Link Road for Ashiana Iqbal.
