\nLAHORE \u2013 Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said housing schemes with modern facilities have been launched for the poor and common people for the first time in the history of Pakistan, and the credit of launching Aashiyana housing project goes to the Pakistan Muslim League-N which has materialised the dream of low-income people of having their own roof. \u201cBesides Lahore, work on Aashiyana housing schemes in Sargodha, Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Jhelum is going on speedily whereas these schemes will be started in 16 districts of the province during next financial year,\u201d he mentioned, while addressing a meeting held with regard to Aashiyana housing scheme project here on Saturday.\n<\/p>\n
\nShahbaz Sharif also said transparency and quality in development projects were the hallmarks of the Punjab government, which had also been ensured in the Aashiyana housing scheme. He disclosed that hundred per cent verification of particulars of those applicants getting houses through balloting had been made so that only deserving people could get houses in these residential colonies, and profiteers and speculators should stay away from these schemes. He hoped that 500 houses would be completed and handed over to the lucky persons in the next month in the first Aashiyana housing scheme in the provincial metropolis. Chairman Punjab Land Development Company MPA Sheikh Alauddin gave a detailed briefing with regard to projects of the scheme.
