Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has said that private housing societies pose a threat to forests in the region, according to a news source. While hearing the case on maintaining forests in Murree and its connecting areas, a three-member bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal asked for a detailed report on it.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court took suo muto notice of the illegal cutting down of trees. During the hearing, Justice Afzal expressed grievances over maintaining and preserving trees at a large scale without initiating a formal drive to plan new ones. For the next hearing, Justice Afzal asked the Secretary Environment, Secretary Forest, and Commissioner Rawalpindi to submit a detailed report.
