\nCHIEF Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government is launching Ashiana Housing Scheme in accordance with the people-friendly and pro-poor vision of PML-N Muslim-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif which will help realise the dream of low-income people of having their own house.\n<\/p>\n
\nHe was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Ashiana Housing Project at Chief Minister\u2019s Secretariat here Thursday. Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif specially attended the function. Provincial ministers, members of National and Punjab Assemblies, intellectuals, columnists and people from different walks of life were also present.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe chief minister said that the low-cost housing scheme would be the best of the country with regard to its standard and facilities and would be executed in a highly transparent manner. He said that houses would be allotted in low-cost housing scheme through a transparent balloting process. He said that after Sue-e-Asal in Lahore, the scope of this project would be extended to all other cities of the province.\n<\/p>\n
\nThe chief minister said that he was extremely happy to inaugurate this important project. He said that except a few residential projects, the remaining schemes fell prey to corruption. However, he said, Ashiana Housing Project would be executed in a highly transparent manner and 10 percent quota had been reserved for widows and destitute persons in the scheme.\n<\/p>\n
\nHe said that the monthly instalment for a three-marla house in the scheme was Rs 4,500 and for a five-marla house Rs 7,500. He said that 6,000 to 7,000 houses would be constructed under this scheme and the construction work of 3,000 houses was being started immediately. He said that this project would be completed in a year.\n<\/p>\n
\nPML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that Punjab government deserved credit for providing shelter to the homeless people which was a big public service.\n<\/p>\n
\nsteps for health sector: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government is taking solid measures for development of health sector and Punjab Health Commission has also been set up for the purpose.\n<\/p>\n
\nHe was addressing a ceremony held to sign memorandum of understanding between the Punjab government and the International Health Partners, UK, for cooperation in health sector. Punjab Health Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad, Anthony Dunnett of the International Health Partners and Pakistan Pharmaceutical Association President Dr Khalid Saeed Bhukhari signed the document. According to the agreement, the International Health Partners, UK, will provide high quality medicines worth 20 million dollars to Punjab free of cost during five years and also help improve the standard of pharmaceutical production.\n<\/p>\n
\nengineering sector: Shahbaz Sharif has said that there is a vast scope for development of engineering sector and the government will provide all-out facility for the purpose.\n<\/p>\n
\nHe said that technical courses in accordance with the market needs had been introduced in the TEVTA and other vocational institutions. He was addressing inaugural ceremony of the 3rd International Foundry Conference and Exhibition here Thursday. Pakistan Foundry Association President Sikandar Mustafa, SMEDA chief executive officer, industrialists, investors as well as industrial delegates from England, Turkey, Czech Republic, India and other countries participated in the conference. The chief minister said that International Foundry Conference on the topic of \u201cDuniya Hamari Mandi\u201d would help provide a strong basis to engineering sector in Pakistan. He said that every effort would be made to make Pakistan lead other countries of the region in engineering industry. He said that the Punjab government was extending all-out cooperation to Pakistani and foreign industrialists for the purpose. He said that the industrialists associated with Pakistan Foundry Association were playing an important role in saving foreign exchange by producing quality products. He also appreciated the performance of Punjab Vocational Training Council Chairman Sikandar Mustafa. He said the TEVTA and Punjab Vocational Training Council had been modernised and a skilled workforce according to market needs was being produced. He said that he was ready to resolve all problems of the foundry industry. He said that the persons associated with this sector should come to him for evolving an effective strategy.\n<\/p>\n
\nPakistan Foundry Association President Sikandar Mustafa Khan also addressed the conference.\n<\/p>\n
