Lahore: The Metro Corporation Lahore has issued a gazette notification for the recently approved building bylaws for commercial, residential and industrial projects, according to a news source. The bylaws make it mandatory for commercial buildings built on an area of three marlas or bigger to procure a Structure Engineering Certificate and arrange for a parking space and firefighting system.<\/p>\n
According to the details, the maximum height for houses in old establishments has been increased from 38 feet to 45 feet on streets and lanes that are at least 30 feet wide. In the new housing schemes, the minimum width of roads has been set at 30 feet, while the height of apartment buildings has been increased from 50 feet to 80 feet.<\/p>\n
For 3-marla commercial buildings, the bylaws allow a height of 25 feet, while the height for 10-marla buildings is set at 40 feet. The builders of commercial buildings are also required to leave empty space on the sides. For industrial buildings, the height limit has been increased to 75 feet, while the procurement of a Structure Engineering Certificate and NOC by the Environmental Department and Civil Defence has also been made mandatory. The provision of emergency exits is a must for both commercial plazas and industrial buildings.<\/p>\n
