Lahore: The new building bylaws introduced by Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) has banned construction of farmhouses on agricultural land without prior approval, according to a news source. The bylaws for construction work carried out on agricultural land has been introduced for the first time.<\/p>\n
The MCL has also introduced bylaws for country clubs, dairy, fish and poultry farms, flour mills and cottage industry. According to these laws, farmhouses will be built on at least 4 kanals of land while the entertainment parks have to have an area of at least 20 kanals. For poultry, dairy and fish farms, the area limit is set at 6 kanals.<\/p>\n
Reportedly, MCL\u2019s Planning Wing has also procured formal approval for these bylaws from Baldiat Secretary, after which Mayor Lahore Mubashir Javaid also instructed the planning department to enforce these bylaw with immediate effect. Responding to the orders, the MCL Planning Department\u2019s Municipal Officer Muhammad Saleem has started a survey of agricultural land in Lahore.<\/p>\n
The departments concerned have also been asked to issue a notice to owners of the existing farmhouses. The owners are now required to get the map of their farmhouse approved from the MCL.
