Karachi: On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) sent notices to the Provincial Advocate General and Karachi Development Authority (KDA) in regard to the encroachments on 35,000 amenity plots in the city, according to a news report. A two-judge bench shall take up the case at the SCP\u2019s Karachi Registry on Saturday. Earlier, it had been disclosed that these plots in different parts of the city had been encroached on by cutting the land into smaller plots and utilising them for other purposes.<\/p>\n

In a compliance report, it was reported that 1,569 plots had been recovered and operations were underway to retrieve 33,400 amenity plots being encroached upon. The 1,569 plots had been recovered through demolition operations against 239 houses, 509 structures, 204 boundary walls, 371 shops, 167 marriage halls, 12 hotels, four dispensaries\/hospitals, and 18 paved works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
