Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) will introduce a remote monitoring and control system to automate its tube wells, according to a news report. The program will cost around PKR 1.14 billion.<\/p>\n
WASA Deputy Managing Director (Engineering) Muhammad Naveed Mazhar stated that the agency has submitted proposal on the project to the Punjab Planning and Development Department (P&D).<\/p>\n
According to Mazhar, due to manual operations, there is no proper account for water production, disposal of sewage or usage of electricity. He said that on, Punjab government\u2019s directions, WASA prepared a comprehensive plan to change the setup and install Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)-based system.<\/p>\n
The system will take account of previously unaccounted water and decrease the manual interventions while providing remote monitoring and controlling capabilities. Not just that, it will also help make the use of water more sustainable.<\/p>\n
The proposal is to be presented in the upcoming meeting of the P&D department and will be launched during the next fiscal year.<\/p>\n
