Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to render its regulations regarding the use of 25% of residential area for commercial usage, according to a news report. This has come after a series of complaints against residents using more than 25% of their residential property for commercial purposes.<\/p>\n
According to provisions outlined in Section 4 (b) of Land Use Rules 2014, residential property can be used as a daycare facility\/preschool, dispensary (not less than 1 kanal) and hospital (not less than 6 kanal), library, or guesthouse, but not as hostels, small size corner shop on the ground floor, college, university and research institute (not less than 4 kanal), government offices, or club.<\/p>\n
A senior official of the LDA has said that these provisions have been made to ensure that the residential property is being properly utilised. He also added that all cases under Section 4 (b) VII are being referred to a scrutiny committee which will regulate this use of land effectively. The authority has received a lot of complaints after which they\u2019ve decided to not give any more relaxations to professionals under this rule.
