While presenting the provincial budget for 2018-2019 on 10<sup>th<\/sup> May 2018, the minister said that Thar Block-II has been progressing ahead of its timelines for both mining and construction levels.<\/p>\n<p>While giving details of the project, he said that the first seam of Thar coal would be available for utilisation by June, and that the pre-commissioning tests of the power plant would be conducted in July.<\/p>\n<p>This USD 2 billion, 660 megawatt Thar Coal project is a part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and a part of the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The Sindh government has also made allocations for renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power.
