Muzaffarabad: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) officials are working on and researching emergency plans to deal with the increasing climate risks which have led to flooding and loss of life and property, according to a news report. Pakistan is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, particularly the AJK region. This is why officials are devising plans to boost the country\u2019s ability to cope with natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, drought, and landslides.<\/p>\n
Last year, emergency response centres were set up for easier coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). These are equipped with their own radio frequencies for quicker response to disastrous situations. The Disaster and Climate Resilience Improvement Project in AJK has gathered a considerable amount of data to plan disaster relief in a better way. With the help of these endeavours, a logistics plan has been mapped out for every district and state to deal with landslides, floods, and man-made disasters.
