Lahore: The Punjab Thermal Power Limited (PTPL) has floated a tender for hiring an engineering consultancy for the testing and commissioning of the 1,263 MW Combined Cycle Punjab Power Plant in Jhang, according to a news source.
\nThis consultancy would oversee the tests being undertaken according to the per power purchase agreement requirement and issue certificates on the successful completion of these tests in order to achieve commercial operations. This prequalification and hiring of an engineering firm is expected to be completed by mid-August. This project is expected to be done in phases, with the gas turbines to work in simple cycle mode in the last quarter of 2018, and the combined cycle mode to be initiated in the last quarter of 2019.
\nProject documents reveal that this plant is to be set up near Trimmu Barrage, Haveli Bahadar Shah, Jhang, under the independent power producer (IPP) regime. A contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction of this project had been signed by the PTPL on September 29, 2017.
