Islamabad: The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved the Neelum-Jhelum hydroelectric project at a cost of PKR 506.8 billion, according to a news report. The ECNEC approved the fourth cost revision of this 969 MW project, as it had been ongoing since 1989.<\/p>\n

The meeting in which this approval was given was chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi, who approved a total of 10 projects worth PKR 779.6 billion. The per-megawatt cost of this project comes to PKR 523 million, while that of the Dasu hydroelectric power plant is PKR 261 million.
