Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau has recovered PKR 110 million from developers of bogus housing societies and is currently in the process to return the money to 809 affectees of such projects, a news source quoted the NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal. He shared this information during his address to a meeting held in the NAB Headquarters.<\/p>\n
Sharing further details about how the bureau is proceeding with such developers, Iqbal said that 226 people accused of fraud have been arrested during the last seven months, while references have been filed against 271 people accused of real estate felony. He also revealed that the bureau has arrested 25 convicts wanted in similar cases.<\/p>\n
Iqbal also hinted that a meeting with authorities looking at the matters concerning the affairs of private and cooperative housing societies is soon to be called. The bureau is to sit down with representatives of Capital Development Authority, Rawalpindi Development Authority, Islamabad Capital Territory, Peshawar Development Authority, Quetta Development Authority, Lahore Development Authority, and Karachi Development Authority to determine duties and point out shortcomings in their mode of work. The prime purpose of this meeting, according to Iqbal, is to form a comprehensive layout plan to keep people from losing their money at hands of fake housing projects\u2019 developers.<\/p>\n
