Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan launched a report on Climate Change Risks and Food Security Analysis in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), according to a news report. He launched it while addressing a conference at the Ministry for Climate Change, highlighting the achievements of the ministry.<\/p>\n
Khan focussed on the ministry\u2019s achievements and stated 25 million trees had been planted under its Green Pakistan Programme (GPP) in the first year, well in line with its target of planting 100 million trees in five years. He further added that the Glacial Lake Outburst Flood-II (GOLF-II) project worth USD 37 million, has been approved by the Green Climate Fund. The foundation stone for a botanical garden has also been laid after the consolidation of approximately 725 acres of land. He also added that air quality monitoring stations had been installed for all the parameters of air quality testing in Islamabad and other parts of the country. In addition, he announced the passing of the Pakistan Climate Change Bill for the preparation, supervision, and implementation of adaptation and mitigation projects in different sectors.
