Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA)\u2019s Water and Sewerage Department\u2019s top official has said that installing 12 tubewells in National Park can solve the problem of water shortage in the capital, according to a news report. Talking to media, he said that the proposed project couldn\u2019t be undertaken earlier because of lack of funds.<\/p>\n
At the moment, the capital is left with only a month\u2019s supply of water supply as both Simly and Khanpur dams are losing water at a fast pace. This situation is faced every year before monsoon period starts.<\/p>\n
He added that the recent installation of tubewells at National Park has allowed the residents of Shahzad Town to fulfil their water needs. He also took notice of widespread water theft and peoples\u2019 carelessness in water usage.<\/p>\n
The Senate Standing Committee on Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) also took notice of this and reported that out of the 197 tubewells spread across the capital, only 157 were working, which are insufficient to fulfil the needs all residents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
