Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has said that it will not intervene in the tax amnesty scheme and if the scheme fails, the government will be responsible for it, reported a news source. A three-member bench headed by SC Chief Justice Saqib Nisar heard the suo moto case on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The State Bank of Pakistan governor, who appeared before the apex court on orders, told the judges that reaching foreign accounts of Pakistanis is difficult, and to overcome these hurdles, agreements are being signed with 103 countries including Switzerland.<\/p>\n
Answering a question about how well the scheme has responded, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman said that people are concerned about SC\u2019s verdict on the scheme and thus reluctant to avail it. Commenting on it, Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that judiciary has no objection on the scheme and it hasn\u2019t issued an order against it, therefore, if the scheme fails, the responsibility will be on the government.<\/p>\n
