Islamabad: The World Bank is to assist Pakistan for the expansion of economic activity with Afghanistan through the construction of Khyber Pass, according to a news story. The World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Ilango Pathamuthu has said that this corridor will support trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan through regional connectivity and private sector development.<\/p>\n
He has labelled this as an important component of Pakistan\u2019s growth policy and for infrastructural development. This will be constructed at a cost of USD 460.6 million and benefit consumers, producers, and traders in Pakistan and throughout Central Asia by reducing transport time and cost as well as increasing avenues for private-sector investment. Through this pass, the private sector in Khyber Agency will also be strengthened by increasing access to socio-economic and job opportunities.<\/p>\n
