Karachi: The Sindh Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Department has released funds of PKR 979.9 million for uplifting Sindh\u2019s coastal areas of Sujawal, Thatta and Badin, according to a news report. This was announced during a meeting attended by various dignitaries and chaired by Caretaker Minister for Environment Jameel Yusuf. Yusuf also said that the latest tracking devices should also be installed on fishing boats of these areas to ensure safety at sea level and to ensure socioeconomic uplift and welfare of fishermen.<\/p>\n
Environment Secretary Mukhtiar Ahmed Soomro told the meeting that the Sindh Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) is being activated to implement environmental laws that concern the functioning of industries.\u00a0 For this, civil society organisations are also to be involved for the sake of welfare and relief of fishing communities.
