Karachi: The Government of Sindh has announced the resumption of work on the Bus Rapid Transit project for Karachi, reported a news source. In this regard, the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) has also informed Asian Development Bank (ADB) in writing about the resuming work on the project.<\/p>\n
The project is a joint venture between ADB and SMTA, which is being developed to help the largest city of Pakistan with traffic load. Development work on the Red Line under the BRT is expected to start off in the first quarter of 2019. Considering its objectives, the Red Line is deemed as the best option to tackle traffic issues in the city.<\/p>\n
Reportedly, the estimation to determine market value of the property that will be compensated due to the BRT route has also been completed. It is important to mention here that the project will displace 925 people from the BRT route, which includes 293 owners of shops located on the route.
