Islamabad: The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has decided to take steps for building at least five water reservoirs in the capital, according to a news report. In a meeting held earlier, the Chief Justice urged the MCI to build five water reservoirs to cope with water shortage in the capital.<\/p>\n
The Chief Metropolitan Officer Syed Najaf Iqbal was also present at the meeting and said that the MCI would take all steps necessary as soon as funds are released. Another project is being implemented which will primarily deal with integrated water management. A former Capital Development Authority member engineer Shahid Sohail said during the meeting that the capital\u2019s urban areas require 111 million gallons of water per day (MGD) for which the capacity of the dams needs to be increased.<\/p>\n
Sectors of G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, I-10 and I-9 are facing an acute water shortage.
