Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has decided to rent out its old offices on Liaquat Road, according to a news source. A committee headed by finance officer Shahzad Gondal will auction the old office complex for rent. This is expected to help generate a revenue of PKR 12.5 million per month for RMC.<\/p>\n
The step was taken in view of the Punjab government\u2019s directive to increase its revenue and decrease dependence on provincial government\u2019s grant for development schemes. RMC shifted to a new building in 2015 and the old one had been vacant since then. The old building was previously refurbished at a cost of PKR 17.5 million by Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) but the auction could not take place.<\/p>\n
The revenue generation from the rent will be used for development in the 46 union councils of the city. Each of the four floors of the building will be rented out to separate companies. The rent for first floor will be fixed at PKR 600,000 per month, second floor at PKR 500,000 and third floor for Rs400,000 per month.<\/p>\n
