As per an official statement, Wapda\u2019s hydroelectric power plants supplied 7,571 MW and 7,513 MW to the national grid during peak hours on September 16<sup>th<\/sup> and 17<sup>th<\/sup>, respectively. This was an increase of about 1,000 MW compared with the same time period in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>This has been possible because of Tarbela Dam\u2019s 4<sup>th<\/sup> extension project and the Neelum-Jhelum hydroelectric power project. Overall, Wapda owns 19 hydel power stations which have a cumulative generation capacity of 6,902 MW.
