Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered the authorities concerned to resolve issues causing delays in the acquisition of land for Dasu Dam, reported a news source. The ground breaking ceremony of the project was performed back in June 2014, while due to delays seen in acquiring land for the project, World Bank had warned of delays and cost escalation.<\/p>\n
For the USD 4.3 billion hydroelectric dam, World Bank has already approved USD 588.4 million. A few days ago, the bank warned Pakistan that further delays in land acquisition will cause the project\u2019s cost go up and it could be derailed if the government didn\u2019t intervene in to the matter.<\/p>\n
In a meeting held to discuss the related issues, Khan was briefed over the land acquisition disputes and those regarding resettlement of displaced people. Commenting on it, Khan said that these issues must be solved on a priority basis in thorough consultation with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also instructed that legitimate demand of the affected people should be taken into account.<\/p>\n
