Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), according to a news report. A special ceremony was held in this regard where Khan revealed important information regarding this programme.<\/p>\n
Khan is hopeful that in addition to providing shelter to the homeless in Pakistan, the programme will create employment opportunities and also attract investors from Pakistan and other countries. NPHP is also expected to boost growth in 40 industries related to the housing sector.<\/p>\n
During his speech, Khan also announced the formation of Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHA), which will be set up in three months. The NPHA will serve as a one-window operation cell for the construction-related formalities for the project. Before the authority is formed, a task force will look after the project.<\/p>\n
In order to remove hurdles in financing construction of affordable housing units, a National Financial Regulatory Body will also be set up in the next two months. Furthermore, a legal framework will be prepared to ensure that no legal hurdles block the implementation of this project.<\/p>\n
Khan said a Land Bank will be formed to identify land with the Housing Ministry, Federal government, provincial governments, and local bodies. Under the first phase of the programme, the pilot project will be launched in seven districts nationwide, for which the registration process will start from today in cooperation with National Database and Registration Authority, which will gather data to ascertain the housing needs of people. The pilot project will be for government servants.<\/p>\n
