Rawalpindi: Development work on Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) will formally kick off in 2019, reported a news source. The project is estimated to cost USD 439 million, while Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will provide loans for it.<\/p>\n
The project design will be prepared by National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) in two months, after which the prequalification process for contractors will be initiated. For acquiring land for the project, the Government of Punjab will provide PKR 600 million.<\/p>\n
This information was shared by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) in a meeting held with a 5-member delegation representing AIIB. Senior officials from NESPAK also attended the meeting. The delegation was told that the details on toll tax will be finalised by NESPAK once the project is completed.<\/p>\n
Sharing details on the working model, the RDA officials said that a project management unit will be set up for the development work carried out during the first six months. Procurement will begin once the land acquisition process completes.<\/p>\n
