Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasised the need to chalk out a comprehensive road map on the National Water Policy (NWP), a news source reported. He was chairing the first meeting of the National Water Council (NWC) at the PM Office.<\/p>\n
He also stressed on following an integrated approach for conservation, storage, management and efficient utilisation of available water resources. He said that NWC will serve as an effective forum to develop a consensus on stakeholders on issues relating to water management.<\/p>\n
The meeting was briefed about the structure of NWP and the strategic priorities set in the policy. He also told the meeting of the water resources that the country has to work to enhance storage capacity.<\/p>\n
Various proposals on the implementation of National Water Policy were also presented. The PM instructed that the proposals should be analysed by the steering committee under the water resources minister. The committee is to submit its report in two weeks.<\/p>\n
