Karachi: The provincial capital of Sindh and the country\u2019s largest metropolis needs USD 10 billion over the next ten years to meet its infrastructural requirements, reported a news source. This includes its service-delivery needs in urban transport, water supply and sanitation, and disposal of solid waste.
\nThis information was revealed by World Bank\u2019s Senior Specialist in Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Namoos Zaheer. Zaheer made these revelations when talking about Karachi\u2019s issues in a report titled \u2018Transforming Karachi into a livable and competitive megacity: a city diagnostic and transformation strategy\u2019.
\nShe presented this report in the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and emphasised on the need to develop Karachi due to it being the \u2018engine of growth\u2019 for Pakistan. The city generates 12-15% of the country\u2019s GDP and is a manufacturing powerhouse.
