Rawalpindi: Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has decided to undergo a crackdown against defaulters of waters bills and those engaged in water theft, reported a news source. Under the supervision and direct orders of WASA Chairman Arif Abbasi, a plan has been finalised to deal with water related issues in the district.<\/p>\n
To make the operation successful, Abbassi has transferred 51 bill distributers operating in the same territory since 10 years or more. Previously, all inspectors operating under the agency were transferred to different areas. The authority is looking to shuffle 400 tube well operators and wall men; lists regarding this have already been prepared.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, teams have been formed to start the crackdown against defaulters of water bills and those engaged in water theft. Those engaged in misuse of water and involved in non-payment of water bills will be fined, and that\u2019s in addition to collecting the pending dues from them. WASA will also terminate illegal water connections under this drive.<\/p>\n
A plan is in place to fix leakages in the water supply system, while the authority is also looking to increase water supply from Rawal Dam and Khanpur Dam. WASA currently has ample water stock available and there is no shortage in the city.
