Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is set to launch its very first housing scheme, thirty years after its establishment, a news source reported.<\/p>\n
Currently, RDA has two projects planned, including the established of a housing society in Adiala village and the construction of a commercial plaza near RDA\u2019s office in Liaquat Bagh.<\/p>\n
Though previously, the land for the housing project was allocated for the sewerage plant, after the new government took over, the housing problem has taken a higher priority and RDA has been asked to work on it.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the matter, RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi stated that the agency would seek expressions of interest from landowners next week to provide land to the RDA for the housing society under public-private partnership. The expressions of interest can be sent within a month.<\/p>\n
Anyone owning 2,000 kanals of land will be eligible to partner with RDA in the housing project. The owner would have to provide at least four kanals of land to RDA, which would exchange it for a developed plot of one kanal.<\/p>\n
RDA would acquire loans for the housing project from banks and return them when the plots are sold. The provincial government will not need to provide funding for the project, according to Abbasi.<\/p>\n
The plots will be sold on easy instalments. People will be given ownership certificates soon after the development of the area while all basic utilities: gas, electricity, water, telephone and sewerage system, will be provided.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
