Rawalpindi: The Government of Punjab has approved a project to arrange water supply for the city from River Jhelum, reported a new source. Provincial Minister Mian Abdul Rasheed and Rawalpindi Development Authority Chairman Arif Abbasi visited the project route.<\/p>\n
The project will supply 70 million gallons of water to the citizens on a daily basis. In this regard, 3-kilometre long water supply lines will be laid. Reportedly, the departments concerned have purchased the required material including power generators and water supply pipes.<\/p>\n
To arrange for water supply, lines will be laid from River Jhelum to Murree Kotli Sattian, from where it will be channelled to Rawal Dam; this will cut the project cost save the provincial exchequer a good amount. From Rawal Dam onwards, the water will be supplied to the rest of the city via the existing supply network.<\/p>\n
For channelling water from Murree Kotli Sattiyan to Rawal Dam, the estimated expense stands at PKR 260 million, which will be covered by Water and Sanitation Authority, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, and Capital Development Authority.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
