Karachi: Concerned authorities have received orders to remove encroachments from Karachi Circular Railways (KCR), a news source reported. Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali chaired a session in this regard during which he directed concerned departments to initiate an anti-encroachment drive in order to remove encroachments from KCR.<\/p>\n
Divisional Superintendent of Karachi Railways Arshad Salam Khattak, deputy commissioners, and senior officials of Mass Transit Authority, KDA, and LDA attended the meeting.<\/p>\n
The development comes after Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar announced that the actual victims of the ongoing anti-encroachment operation in the city would be compensated and a committee has been formed for the purpose.<\/p>\n
They made it clear, however, that no compensation would be given to anyone who was involved in the encroachments. The committee, formed by the government, is headed by the Karachi commissioner. The committee will collect information and the Sindh government with KMC\u2019s help will provide alternative plots to these victims.<\/p>\n
The minister said that anti-encroachment operations will be conducted in other parts of the province as well.<\/p>\n
The mayor speaking on the occasion said that the anti-encroachment drive is being conducted on the orders of Supreme Court and KMC will accommodate its tenants in its other markets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
