Karachi: The Supreme Court-mandated commission on water and sanitation in Sindh expressed reservations over the provincial government\u2019s decision to assign the task of town planning to Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), a news source reported. The commission has also summoned the Sindh chief secretary on December 13 to come up with the government\u2019s decision on conversion of industrial plots to commercial and to inform the commission on the stance of provincial government on empowering SBCA to regulate town planning.<\/p>\n
The commission stated that the job of the government is regulation of construction of buildings. SBCA can\u2019t be assigned the task of town planning through amendment in law since these are \u2013 on the face of it \u2013 person-specific amendments.<\/p>\n
