Lahore: The provincial agriculture department has set up 25 model markets under the first phase of its pilot project pertaining to the establishment of agriculture markets, a news source reported. A further 25 markets will be upgraded as part of the project.<\/p>\n
Secretary Agriculture Wasif Khursheed, during his visit to a fruit and vegetable market at Kot Lakhpat, said the government plans to transform agriculture markets and a comprehensive plan has been chalked out in this regard. He was accompanied by Special Secretary Ehsan Bhutta, Director (E&D) and Director (Fund Board), who briefed the secretary regarding a monitoring system which will maintain record of wholesale markets.<\/p>\n
Khursheed, while inspecting CCTV cameras installed in the market, directed officials concerned to demolish encroachments and other illegal structures in agriculture markets.<\/p>\n
