Karachi: Uzbekistan has offered to establish a technical institute in Sindh to facilitate aspirants who want to pursue specialisation in agriculture, a news source reported. Uzbek Ambassador Furqat Sidiqov, who called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, also offered to install a special plant to manufacture agriculture machinery.<\/p>\n
Shah said the provincial government was seeking technical support from Uzbekistan in its bid to mechanise the agriculture sector to boost productivity.<\/p>\n
He said the government would never compromise on quality, and for that purpose, the latest farming methods and techniques had to be implemented for better crop yield and productivity.<\/p>\n
The chief minister said that an agriculture institute, in collaboration with Uzbekistan, could be established at Tando Jam Agriculture University, where they could also install a factory to produce agriculture machinery.<\/p>\n
He also directed Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahu to coordinate with Uzbekistan Embassy for making necessary documentation and agreements in this regard.<\/p>\n
Shah also held a separate meeting with Ambassador of Belarus Andrei Ermolovich during which the two discussed mechanisation of agriculture in Sindh.<\/p>\n
The envoy apprised the chief minister about special thrashes specifically designed to thrash wheat and rice. He added that the thrashes were affordable and their spare parts were easily available.<\/p>\n
