Faisalabad: A new law has been formed under which the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has the power to approve maps for private housing schemes in the city, reported a news source. This change of procedure brings an end to the 40-year long issues between FDA and Faisalabad Municipal Corporation (FMC).<\/p>\n
Previously, under Punjab Development of Citizens Act 1976, FDA was responsible to grant approvals to the private housing scheme while the FMC\u2019s role was to approve maps and buildings plans for these projects. This has been the bone of contention between the two departments operating parallel in the city that spans 1,300 kilometres.<\/p>\n
This had also been causing troubles for the FDA with implementing the layout plan approved for private housing schemes as the building control department fell under FMC. Consequently, the practice of selling amenity plots otherwise reserved for public was also common where many real estate developers had been selling these plots to general publics.<\/p>\n
In addition to that, private real estate developers were also less stringent about following the building bylaws, where the practice of keeping the documented details in account was absent.<\/p>\n
